“Regain the lost teeth with Stem Cells”
Stem cells Treatment are now used to treat incurable diseases, which were beyond our imagination once. It seems that stem cells will now be used to grow different parts of our body such as heart, hand, lungs and such other organs. Similarly, scientists have now engineered to grow teeth with the help of Stem Cells. The bio-engineered teeth will have the same look and work as the natural teeth as hardness, structure and sensitivity and responsiveness.
Scientists in “Tokyo University of Science” have successfully grown the lost molar tooth in mice from a genetically bio-engineered tooth seed. It is composed of essential tooth stem cells that grew into molar teeth within a month and a half.
The scientists created a tooth seed by using multipotent cells, undifferentiated cells, into an organ culture for a week. Once the ball of cells began to differentiate, the scientists then surgically implant the cell seed directly into the hole in the mouse’s jaw.
Scientist also believes that this same technique can be adapted for humans as well for growing the lost tooth, but it has to go a long way as it is still under research.
